I can elaborate: You will have maybe 10 listeners if you are lucky. These radios do not sell, no one even knows IBOC exists, it is just biding it's time waiting for it's funeral which no one will even know happened. It interferes with it's neighbor stations, it's range is extremely limited, the radios don't work correctly, you need outside antennas if you want to get any HD radios beyond about 10 miles. It's a monopoly run by idiots who are causing radio to worse than it already is.

EDITOR: I agree with some points and disagree with others. Because this is very tangential to the topic and I asked for elaboration, I am posting the reply to the request. If interested, I will start a new thread on this topic.

Will R

There is almost zero consumer interest in HD Radio, after two to three years. Manufacturers dislike it and retailers can't sell it. The HD signal has only about 1/3 to 1/2 the coverage of analog, and jams severely on AM, and even jams on FM. iBiquity has a monopoly on digital radio, as it controls licensing fees and percentage fees of the HD channels, if the channels ever get enough listeners to bill, which is doubful:

“HD Radio on the Offense”

“But after an investigation of HD Radio units, the stations playing HD, and the company that owns the technology; and some interviews with the wonks in DC, it looks like HD Radio is a high-level corporate scam, a huge carny shill.”

HD/IBOC jams the smaller stations off the dial, which is part of this grand scheme. My blog is the result of two years following this scam, and now, Kevin Martin, the FCC's Commissioner, is under investigation by Congress. Bob Savage, who runs this site:

http://www.stopiboc.com/

has been in touch with Senator Dingell, of the House Subcomitte investigating the FCC, has submitted information on the jamming of WYSL, and that the CPB/NPR radio stations, installing HD, have have bilked Congress out of millions of taxpayers dollars for this destructive technology. A good site to follow current news, as it related to HD Radio, is Radio-Info.com's HD message board:

If there is any further information that you need, please let me know.
